This is a trick question. Everyone who has bitcoin SHOULD run a bitcoin node. Do you have to? No. If you have a small amount of bitcoin, you may not want to run a node, but that means you are trusting someone else to tell you how much bitcoin you have. That’s OK, but as you start adding to your stack of bitcoin, you may find that you want to trust others less and less and verify yourself how much bitcoin you hold.
